FAST NUCES CGPA Calculator

Official Tool for National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences

Aligned with SLATE / Flex System | 👨‍🎓 Reviewed by FAST Alumni

Welcome to the FAST NUCES CGPA Calculator. The National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST) typically follows the HEC-recommended relative grading system, which utilizes 2-decimal point precision for intermediate grades (e.g., A- is 3.67, not 3.7).

This calculator is designed to provide the most precise SGPA and CGPA calculation for students across all FAST campuses (Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Chiniot). Simply enter your course credits and the letter grade you received.

How to Calculate Your FAST CGPA

1. Identify Course Credits

Most theory courses are 3 credits, while labs are 1 credit. FYP is usually 3+3 credits.

2. Enter Letter Grades

Input the grade assigned on your transcript (e.g., A-, B+). The calculator automatically applies the HEC/FAST relative weights.

3. Review Warnings

If your CGPA is below 2.0, the tool will alert you. Use "Add Semester" to plan your recovery path.

Academic Warning & Dismissal Policy

⚠️ Academic Warning

Criteria: CGPA < 2.00 at the end of any semester.

Consequence: You are placed on probation. You must improve your CGPA in the next semester.

🚫 Dismissal (Drop)

Criteria: 3 consecutive academic warnings (varies by batch/campus).

Rule: If you fail to improve CGPA above 2.00 after repeated warnings, you may be dropped from the degree program.

FAST NUCES Medals & Dean's List

Award / Status Min CGPA / Criteria Benefits
Gold Medal Highest CGPA in Batch Awarded at Convocation (Campus-wise).
Silver / Bronze Medal 2nd / 3rd Highest CGPA Awarded at Convocation.
Dean's List of Honors 3.50+ SGPA Top 15% of the batch in a semester.
Rector's List of Honors 3.80+ CGPA Maintained throughout the degree.

FAST Grading Scale (Relative/HEC)

FAST often uses relative grading to determine the letter grade, but once assigned, the letter grade carries the following fixed points:

Letter Grade Grade Points Remarks
A+ / A 4.00 Exceptional
A- 3.67 Outstanding
B+ 3.33 Excellent
B 3.00 Very Good
B- 2.67 Good
C+ 2.33 Above Average
C 2.00 Average
C- 1.67 Satisfactory
D+ 1.33 Pass
D 1.00 Low Pass
F 0.00 Fail

Calculation Example

Example of SGPA calculation for a Computing student:

  • PF (4 Credits): Grade B+ (3.33) → 4 × 3.33 = 13.32 points
  • Calculus (3 Credits): Grade A- (3.67) → 3 × 3.67 = 11.01 points
  • English (3 Credits): Grade A (4.00) → 3 × 4.00 = 12.00 points

Total Credits: 10

Total Points: 36.33

SGPA = 36.33 / 10 = 3.63

Frequently Asked Questions

Is relative grading used at FAST?

Yes, most courses at FAST use relative grading. Your letter grade depends on the class average. However, sometimes instructors may use absolute grading for smaller classes or specific subjects.

What is the warning count limit?

If your CGPA drops below 2.0, you are placed on academic warning. Three (3) consecutive warnings typically lead to dismissal/admission cancellation. This rule is strictly enforced.

Do repeated courses affect CGPA?

When you repeat a course, the new grade replaces the old one in the CGPA calculation, but the old grade remains visible on the transcript marked as 'R'. You must repeat "F" grades.

Do labs have separate grades from theory?

Yes, at FAST, labs are typically treated as separate 1-credit courses grading-wise. You must pass both theory and lab independently. In our calculator, add them as separate entries.

What does an 'I' (Incomplete) grade mean?

An 'I' grade is temporary (e.g., due to medical reasons). It does not affect GPA immediately but must be cleared within the specified time, otherwise it automatically converts to an 'F'.

What does an 'F/A' grade mean?

'F/A' stands for Failure due to Attendance. If your attendance falls below 80%, you are not allowed to sit in the final exam and are automatically awarded this grade, which counts as 0.00 points.

How many courses can I take in Summer?

You can register for a maximum of 2 courses (plus labs) during the Summer semester. This is ideal for clearing 'F' grades or improving your CGPA.
